'The Great Marquess', Ryhope Grange, Sunderland
Managed to grab a picture of this fantastic steam locomotive approaching Ryhope Grange, Sunderland. I understand it was on a special day trip from Carnforth in Lancashire. For the train enthusiasts out there, I am informed it is an ex BR locomotive 2-6-0 Class K4 No. 61994 'THE GREAT MARQUESS'. It was built in 1938 at Darlington Locomotive Works to a design by Gresley for the West Highland Line.
The company which owns the train, West Coast Railways in Carnforth, also run the popular Fort William to Mallaig steam train service, otherwise known as the Hogwarts Express. I was lucky enough to travel on this train a couple of years back and what a brilliant line it is too... fantastic scenery.
