In the back of Chateau: Cedar Bark wood coverings
A distinctive feature of the district's naturalistic design is the shaggy cedar-barked covering that blends in with nearby trees. Time has taken its toll however. In many places, the picturesque siding is loose, worn, or missing. To store the siding, park staff harvested bark from cedars killed by disease. Putting up the new siding to match the original patterns will maintain the building and preserve its historic rustic appeal.
