PN109, protecting platform 3C at Preston, shows a proceed aspect onto the Up Slow line for 153301 for another departure to Ormskirk. The signalling layout at Preston is such that south of the station, all four lines are bi-directional, with access to all platforms available from all four running lines through a number of points moves. This is the standard move for the 153, as it needs to be on the slow line for the junction at Farringdon Curve, which will allow it to access the line to Ormskirk, which formerly was through to Liverpool.
