A Road Runs Through It
I've always found it interesting how many of the older houses and barns were built so close to a road. Prior to the invention of the automobile, it was just more practical to be close to a road, allowing for easier loading and unloading of supplies. However with the coming of the automobile, the dirt roads that were intended for horse and carriage were mostly widened and paved over, and the residents would now be faced with increased traffic and a new type of road noise.
