Flume Covered Bridge
Photo of the Flume Covered Bridge spanning the Pemigewasset River (often called the "Pemi River"). The 50 foot bridge is located at the Flume Gorge area of Franconia Notch State Park, in the town of Lincoln, New Hampshire. It is one of the oldest covered bridges in New Hampshire, believed to have been built in 1871, although literature provided at the Flume Gorge, as well as a sign on the front of the bridge, indicate it was built in 1886. The bridge has been restored several times, including the addition of a walkway for visitors and hikers attached to the far side of the bridge. The Flume Bridge is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Also see my photo of this same bridge, taken a few weeks earlier on October 6, 2015. That photo has a more frontal view of the bridge. More photos from the Flume Gorge coming.
