246/365 - College Green at rush hour, Dublin, Ireland
Having been born and reared in Dublin City Centre I've become very familiar with its landmarks over the years. But sometimes you see a photo from another photographer that gets you thinking. The location of this photo is not one you'd normally be at, but I saw a night shot taken from here by an ex-student a number of years ago and I thought hmmm...
Around the same time I was running a Dusk Shoot in Cork City when a student showed me a shot of light trails from a car that curved around a corner and I thought hmmm...
On days when I think I have some time and, more importantly, some creative head space, I check the time of the Blue Moment, that 20 minute window, around a half hour after sunset, when the sky goes a beautiful iridescent blue. Then I check the weather forecast to see if the sky will clear, which I promptly ignore because the weather can change so quickly and then I make sure my camera batteries are charged.
So here I am, at the Blue Moment, having ignored the weather forecast as usual, in the right spot, waiting for the skies to clear and begging the traffic to keep moving so I can get my light trails.
The weather didn't clear, the traffic did keep moving and I thanked my lucky stars that two hmmm‘s equals one really interesting photo.
