Garden Spider - Explored 09/08/2022

At the weekend I visited my local camera store and part exchanged my Panasonic 30mm f/2.8 macro lens for the 60mm Olympus f/2.8 because I want to do more macro and had found the Panasonic lens quite difficult to work with. There is more working distance with the Olympus lens and the focus-limiter switch stops the lens hunting all over the place for focus. While this is not a competition winner, it is a passable shot. Taken with my the Olympus 60mm f/2.6 macro mounted on my LUMIX G-9. I used my Godox TT685O speedlight for illumination. I made the mistake of using only the stock ‘flip-out’ diffuser and reflector, so there are some ‘unsightly’ bright spots on the spider. Both camera and flash were set to manual with adequate illumination at full power at IOS 400, exposure was 1/250s at f/8.0. I used AF-C because the web was vibrating in the wind and was pleased with how the camera maintained focus where I had designated. Developed from RAW using DxO PhotoLab v5 with some light stylisation using ON1 Photo RAW 2022, final crop and light edits performed using Affinity Photo.
