Yet another rained off evening for getting out with my camera, so I thought I would have a go at some more indoor photography projects to learn more about using a speedlight. This low-key lighting photo was taken using my LUMIX S1R with the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN standard zoom. Photographed with the speedlight (with softbox) illuminating the right side of the scene. With the speedlight at 1/2 power, the camera set to an aperture of f/16.0 and sensitivity of ISO100, a shutter speed of 1/60s gave a reasonable exposure. I used a sheet of white card to reflect light form the softbox back onto the left side of the salt and pepper pots to even up the exposure. Developed in DxO PhotoLab 3 and edited using Affinity Photo (to get rid of a few distracting dust spots on the black Perspex). One thing I am learning about this type of photo is that, however much you dusted your staging area…. it will not have been enough 😊
