Restaurant in the Harz Mountains
To this day, I've no idea what it was.
It was dish of the day.
"Wild" something or other.
And relatively expensive.
But good.
We understood Kartoffeln meant potatoes - anything with spuds is OK with me.
There was lots of pointing, shrugging, saying 'ah" and things going on, but we got there in the end.
This was a high point. The following day we got no lunch at all and the following two days we had little alternative than to opt for fast food chains :-( where there was nothing "wild" whatsoever on the menu.
Strangely, we were sitting next to a lovely watercolour painting of a Cold War radio transmitter.
