Britain's cheapest three course meal?
in these fairly austere times (no, we are not currently in a recession - BBC please note. We pay our licence fee and the news people can't even be bothered to look up the definition. It may feel like it but we aren't) there are plenty of two for a tenner type pubs hanging on by the skin of their teeth. I was amazed to come across this restaurant doing a three course meal for £4.50! The place looked nice and there were a few newspaper reviews stuck up in the window. We checked Trip Advisor and 75% of all reviews were "excellent", which is pretty good I think.
Like many seaside towns, Seaton Carew seems to be a bit down on its luck at the moment, but then again it could have been because it is "out of season". A largish hotel was offering bed and breakfast for £15 a night. I think the last time I paid that was about 1985!
Saying that the chippy smelt fab and the ice cream parlour was doing a roaring trade.
The town also has some fabulous Art Deco and when we went the lighting was lovely.
As we sat in the car we were looking through wikipedia at the town's entry. It must be a spoof but apparently it is famed for the invention of a certain type of delicacy. Chicken Curry, Half Rice, Half Chips.
