A few months ago I was asked to stand up in front of ninety kids in a school during their "Aspirations Week". The idea is that the governors and staff select people to go in and talk about their lives and what they do for a living. I think the idea is that it serves as some kind of inspiration. Whilst I can, of course, talk about me for hours and hours at a time, I was struggling to know how to engage kids with the attention span of approximately 15 seconds, for twenty minutes. I wondered what we had in common. Then I remembered. I used to be a kid myself once. And I liked ice cream.
And we've got boxes of old photos. So I showed them some of those.
