Girl in leather jacket with Suzuki GT750
I've just unearthed some more old photos. One from 1981, probably somewhere in Scotland as I had a camping trip there in that year with this young lady, who would have been 18 at the time as she then went back up to Scotland shortly afterwards to start University.
I went all over the place on this Suzuki GT750 three cylinder two stroke bike. A bit later than this photo was taken, I did a European tour with three friends, with the four of us on two bikes. Coming back from Nice we did 680 miles in a day on the "kettle" as mine was known - as it was water cooled which was quite unusual on a motorcycle at the time. That European tour was legendary - what memories - some not particularly printable on here. And one definitely isn’t ;-)
On a later trip to Europe the Kiwi K7 helmet that is shown here fell off the seat and split up the middle. I'm just glad my head wasn't in it at the time. Kiwi sent me another but there was no way I was going to wear another one for anything serious. Hence my love in later life of hideously expensive crash helmets. One of which saved my life.
Eventually the Kettle got sold and replaced by another Suzuki - this time a Katana 1000 which was basically designed to be used for big capacity production racing but much to many people's disbelief I used it for more "two up" touring to mainland Europe. Then I sold the Kat and went production racing myself, met the future Mrs Kpcv, and the rest as they say, is history.
Looks like a Vauxhall Chevette behind. Ford Transit just coming into view.
1980s print photographed with my phone. Who'd have thought in 1981 you'd be able to do that?? One ‘give away’ that this was taken in the 80s are the closed eyes. Nowadays with digital, I’d check it immediately and if someone blinked, the shot would be deleted and another one taken.
