Old motorcycle shop
I remember a pack of us all coming over to Yorkshire in the 1970s to visit a motorcycle shop that specialised in parts for two stroke Yamahas.
As road going two strokes are a rarity these days, I hadn't heard of the business for many years.
So I was pretty surprised to see the shop front still there as we were driving past. We stopped the car and I peered in through the window and there were a number of bikes still inside - including one really special looking old British bike on a work bench.
The smell that wafted out of the letterbox - all oily was amazing and brought some real memories flooding back.
A lady walked past and saw me with my camera out and gave me a "what are you doing?" kind of look. I said that we came here 40 odd years ago. She then said "is he not in?" to which I asked if it was a going concern. Oh yes she replied, I'm surprised he's not open now.
When I got home I did a bit of research on the internet and the sole Director seems to be about 80 years old now.
Great to hear it's still going. A blast from the past - it would have been nice to go inside and say Hello.
I like the handpainted sign and the old rolled up newspapers. There was one thing visible in the window. A full race fairing that looked like it had been there for several decades.
