TDK D90

Brand new, unwrapped and still with the original price sticker.

I wonder how many of these that I bought over the years?

It’s hard to go into too much detail here without actually incriminating myself.

I think the TDK D was my cassette of choice but if there was anything really special I wanted to record, I might “push the boat out”, so to speak and splash out on an SA version. Was it possible to detect any improvement in the sound quality - or was it all in the mind?

I think they did D60;and D120 versions, but nobody bought the 120s as there was a bit of an Old Wives Tale that they were thinner tape and snapped easily or something thus losing the pirated recording lol. Please feel free to correct me here if you know better.

I still think the packing looks good. I remember that the shrink wrap on these was really satisfying to get off for some reason. Part of my Flickr “Lettering of Some Kind” album.

And I’ve just checked, the retailer is still there on Manchester Piccadilly Station Approach. I wonder if they still sell any cassettes?

Back then, I wonder what the reaction would have been if someone said that in the future you would be able to take a photograph of this with a phone. A phone??
