I think we're ****ed

....with the word "doom" making up the 4 *s.

 

I like going to the area around Baitings Dam and have taken a few shots over the years for the Telegraph Tuesday group because the number of pylons and telegraph poles defies belief (one day I will take some binoculars and do a proper count).

 

There is quite a bit off stuff on the web about what is happening here, but in a nutshell it was a Norse village apparently before they built the dam and flooded the area and this is an old packhorse bridge. One report in a major daily newspaper says parts of the village can be seen too but didn't point these out in the photos and we couldn't see any buildings.

 

The searing heatwave in the UK recently hasn't helped the water levels in the reservoir and it looks dangerously low.

 

In the 1980s there used to be a "hill climb" for bikes and cars (I think) around here but I've not heard any mention of it for years and can't actually remember where the track was. I've got a photo on here somewhere of Mrs K reclining on the banking at the side of the track. PS I just found some footage of a 1990 Hill Climb on YouTube so Ive got my bearings, so to speak.
