Ravenscar

I am just fascinated by Ravenscar.

In essence it was planned to be a rival to Whitby and Scarborough. The place was set out as a number of roads and the process of selling buildings plots then began. Except hardly anybody bought one.

There isn’t much there apart from a hotel and golf course ( the course is actually built on was was going to be Angle Road, Saxon Road, Dane Road and Britton Road) It is pretty steep.

There are a few houses built on the plots, notably Cliffhouse.

It is great to wander around to try to envision what it might have been like.

The scheme failed for a number of reasons which have been documented fully elsewhere, so there isn't much point me repeating them..

This shot taken from the top of the golf course (whilst Mrs Kpcv and I were sitting on a bench having a rest after a walk up from the disused Alum works), shows Robin Hoods Bay in the distance.
