Bush

Exhibit no 1 - my old Bush TP66 cassette player recently unearthed round at my parents place. When I first got this I thought it was amazing - and to be honest I still think it looks quite cool now. And almost 50 years on it still works - kind of. The tape goes round but there isn't much volume to speak of but I suppose that could be some build up of deposits on the heads. Back in the day I used to clean them with one of those cotton wool buds that have risk warnings on not to put them in your ears. What other uses do they have? Answers on a postcard.

This was part of my home made "music centre" which consisted of this, a sawn off front of my Dads old record player and some speakers out of the next door neighbours old "radiogram".

I'm supposed to be throwing it in the local landfill site but I'm struggling to do that as it brings back so many memories. My love of music started with this little beauty from a time and age when the word "bush" didn't draw laughs and titters from teenagers like it does now. With over 5500 songs on my iPod all of which have been played at least twice, I would not use the Bush again - basically because I threw all of my tapes in the aforementioned landfill site - my main regret being that the cases had all my classic concert ticket stubs in - Thin Lizzy, The Stranglers etc etc

The orange sticker was written by my Dad but it is so long ago I can't recall quite why I wasn't supposed to use that button. Boom!

As it was "portable" I put a green Dymo label on it with my name on, that won't come off - hence the blur.

I can absolutely guarantee that this was never used to record the Top 20 on a Sunday evening...
