Giacomo Agostini on an MV Agusta
Not something you see everyday that is for sure. With over 120 Grand Prix wins and 15 World Championships is fair to say that Ago is pretty amazing on a motorcycle.
A few minutes after I took this shot he was out on Mallory Park with John Cooper. Known as mooneyes he and Ago once battled in the Race Of The Year at Mallory - something that seems to make grown men of a certain age all teary eyed. That was back in 1971 so unfortunately I wasn't there myself but it was good to see them out on the track together.
This isn't the first time I saw Ago on an MV - one of my favourite photos is him on a newer type of MV at the TT in 2009 - then he was out on the Mountain Course with Valentino Rossi. What is pretty amazing about that shot was that it was taken with my first digital camera the Canon A80 which took forever to shoot and I was pretty much wafting the camera in the air - but it all worked out nicely in the end I think.
