John McGuinness and the million pound/dollar/euro Mugen Honda
There are quite a few stories on the internet about John McGuinness and this TT winning electric Mugen Honda racing motorcycle. There is no point me falling into that old "cut and paste" routine. If someone has found their way to my photo stream then they know how to use the world wide web to do a search if they are interested.
I dunno how much it cost or is worth because its pretty academic - as far as I know I couldn't just walk into the local Honda dealership and buy one (even if I did have the money...which i don't)...and lets face it - I would never walk into a Honda dealership.
Mr McGuinness was sitting there at Tonfanau Ciruit, Wales with his leg in some kind of metal contraption after his big accident which took place during my visit to the North West 200 real road races in Northern Ireland earlier in the year.
He was sitting around chatting and signing books, shirts and even one young lady's ..ahem..."chest area", shall we say? Thats the great thing about motorcycle racing - the top guys are pretty accessible. At a recent World Superbike round Mrs Kpcv had her photo taken with the Kawasaki riders Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes. I once (and that was enough to be quite honest) went to a Formula One Grand Prix. Its a few years ago now and I still have the ticket on my office wall - 315 Euros for a weekend pass - boring as hell and worth about a tenth of that. Did I see, let alone talk to, any drivers? No. Would I want to? No.
