My Canon PowerShot cameras, through the years.....

From left to right.

Canon PowerShot A80 with a grand total of 4.0 Mega Pixels!! My very first digital camera. Really slow to react in today's terms and it had a tiny little flip out screen. Saying that, it took some pretty good photos. In 2009 when I went to the Isle of Man TT Races, I didn't want to take my (then) new G9, so I took the A80 instead and somehow managed to snap Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi at the Bungalow, which is still one of my favourite shots taken with the camera. It also managed to take lots of photos of the kids growing up without worrying about the cost of film. It is fairly battle scarred with a piece of silver gaffer tape near the flash - holding the top on!

Next, my brand spanking new PowerShot G7X Mark II. Its still early days. Quite a few differences to learn after three + years with the G15. It shoots RAW and despite its tiny size, has managed to accommodate a 1" sensor.

Next - the PowerShot G9. My friend Mike had one and it was a revelation in some ways after the slowness of the A80. Shoots RAW and had exposure bracketing which was fun for "proper" HDR. Nearly as battle scarred as the A80, but not quite.

And finally, my beloved G15 - my favourite camera of all time. I'm sure there are loads of better cameras out there, but it just suited me. In the same way that a 350 Yamaha isn't the quickest, best handling, best braking or most cutting edge bike ever, to me it doesn't matter because I can use it and it does pretty much everything I want it to do. It lasted up pretty well condition wise, apart from a recent scratch on the lens - hence the arrival of the G7X.

I'm not really a big fan of "brand loyalty", but I've enjoyed using these four PowerShot cameras over the years.
