Suzuki 500 twin racing motorcycle
It has Spondon brakes - which might be a clue. Having done a bit of searching on the web after I first wrote this - I think it is likely its a Spondon frame from the early 1970s
For many years I rode a café racer with a GT500 engine like this bike has - as my main form of transport - commuting into central Manchester every day - I've posted a photo of it in the Comments box if you are interested in taking a look. It is laughable now as I waft along in air conditioned splendour in my "executive" car, to think I used something like this race bike as my "daily driver".
Before I "designed" and built the café racer, I went all over the place on that bike - touring up to Scotland etc. Really good basic engines. Loads of the "yoofs" round here had Yamaha twins - 250s, 350s and 400s and we had a few, shall we say "spirited" ride outs and although the Suzuki was deemed to be low revving and more of a tourer it certainly was a match for the Yamahas in a straight line - but mine did have K&Ns and different pipes on over the years - including a set off Allspeed Expansion Chambers - but the comments box shows a Piper 2 into 1. They had a reputation for sapping power but sounded brilliant.
