Freedom of Panorama in Europe

I just read of a proposed new piece of legislation which would affect Wikipedia. It might affect Flickr too, but I am not sure.

In a nutshell if it goes through, thousands of photos of public buildings will need to be removed. The British example on Wikipedia is the London Eye, seen here.

You can read about it in more detail here:-

I wrote to all our European MEPs using this website, which took about 5 minutes:-

I know that lots of my Flickr contacts like to get "out and about" in major cities etc so it could be that we are affected if it gets enacted.

Some of my Flickr contacts will be aware that one of my Flickr images was once used by The Royal Mail on a postage stamp "smiler" sheet. If the legislation goes through it is doubtful that could happen again. things would be a whole lot duller art wise, going forward.

At least if it goes through I can't say I didn't try.
