Brazilian Yamaha Rd 350 YPVS
The word Brazilian can mean allsorts of things to all kinds of people.
Of course, there are the people from Brazil.
Many people automatically think of the Brazilian football team....or at least they did before the recent World Cup.
To some people it signifies a certain type of....ahem....haircut.
But say Brazilian to a Yamaha fan and it means something else completely. Some people know that my favourite motorcycle in the whole wide world is the 350 YPVS. Not the fastest (how could it be in this day and age? - its only a 350 for heaven's sake), not the best handling......just the best thing ever on two wheels IMHO.
The RD350R seen here was built in Brazil and was the end of a long line of magnificent 350cc two strokes from Yamaha. For some reason it was "restricted" power wise compared to the previous models emanating from Japan. Also the build quality was a bit dubious to say the least. They are fairly easily spotted by the twin headlight fairing with the side vent - although this photo doesn't show it too well.
But hey ho - given the choice of a 350R and no YPVS, I'd go for a Brazilian.
This was spotted at a bike show and looks good in the Kenny Roberts replica speedblock. Saying that, you could send a pig out for the day, dressed in Kenny Roberts colours and it would look stunning.
