red rose whisky
A few weeks ago I went to an event and they held a raffle and I won a prize - a bottle of Red Rose Lancashire Whisky. One of the chaps I went along with donated it, so I asked him about it. "I've no idea" he said - its just a raffle prize. Someone bought it and raffled it and someone won it and donated it to the next function. And the winner donated it to the next one. And on it goes. Win - donate - win - donate - win - donate etc. Anyway I've got this fixation about breaking cycles (not the two wheeled type!!). So the endless cycle of donate and win is now broken cos I've opened it! If I ever get another invitation, I will donate something different but this was too good an opportunity to pass up. Obscurely it seems to be a blend of whiskies blended but not distilled in Lancashire. The chap behind it appears to be someone called Jeff Hampson whose (printed) signature appears on the label. I think he was involved with a company called Potters Herbal Remedies in Leyland Mill Lane, Wigan who I met a few years ago - maybe in the 1990s. I checked on the web and there seem to be very few unopened bottles and there really isn't much information about it at all which is quite unusual for the internet-era. And now there is one unopened bottle less. And it is actually rather nice. Cheers.
