Glasswing Butterfly - Greta oto (in Explore)
Ghosts of the Central and South American rainforests, these tiny butterflies have lost the scales from their wings as bright colours are not needed in the gloom. I like to visit these hothouses to hone my stalking skills before our butterfly season begins. A very rusty start but I had fun. For quite a while one butterfly sat on my head as I walked round! It seemed to be taking minerals from my sweat [not a nice image but quite interesting!] At Butterfly World in Stockton, today.
