High Force.

On our way home from the Lake District, we made a slight detour to visit High Force waterfall near Middleton on Teesdale [County Durham]. With a drop of 22 m [or 71 feet] water from the Pennines cascades over the hard Whin Sill rock [seen at Hadrian's Wall] past a Sandstone layer, to a softer Limestone, below. Though not the tallest waterfall in the country it does have the greatest volume of water and is very impressive - if hard to do justice. I was captivated by the detail in the rocks being eroded by the intense flow.
