Eilean Donan Castle

A wide angle shot [two shot stitch for framing] of this famous, Scottish landmark. The Castle lies at the meeting point of three sea Lochs [Duich, Long and Alsh] and about 1 kilometre from the village of Dornie. In the Thirteenth Century, it was the stronghold of the Mackenzie Clan and their allies, the MacRaes. Their involvement in the Jacobite rebellion led to the Castle's destruction, in 1719 but it was rebuilt in the 20th Century, to reflect its former glory. Occupied by four generations of the Macrae family today, the latest of four structures was a highlight of our journey to Skye.
