Chrysotoxum festivum03

Another splendid Chrysotoxum festivum – my second Scottish record for the year. This time it's a female – at The Saltings LNR, West Dunbartonshire. Jul 15 2011. ID is perhaps a little less clear-cut, but the bar on tergite 3 is definitely hooked towards the outer edge and it shows the yellow suffusion on the base of the wings that's mentioned in Stubbs. Let's hope it meets up with the male that I recently found in my Renfrewshire garden about six miles away!
