Saint George Reef, CA
Description: St. George Reef is a collection of exposed rocks and covered ledges lying about eight miles northwest of Crescent City. In July of 1865, the steam sidewheeler Brother Jonathan struck the reef and went down. Of the 244 people aboard, only nineteen managed to escape in a small craft.
You will not find many photographs of this lighthouse, simply due to its location (8 mi offshore). I've taken many shots as we approached the lighthouse, and continued shooting as we circled around it, and flew back to the coast-line.
note: I've been asked a few times about a much closer view of the lighthouse. I honestly have a few that are alot closer, but for some reason I liked this one alot. I will probably add a different angle sometime in the future.
