Surrounded by oil seed rape fields, Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway No 9 "WINSTON CHURCHILL" is seen passing Botolops Bridge near Burmarsh whilst working the 17:10 Hythe to Dymchurch. 11th May 2008.
Finished by The Yorkshire Engine Company of Sheffield by assembling parts from two new engines ordered for the RH&DR it was delivered to the railway in 1931, No 9 was based on a Canadian style chosen by Howey as it was felt that the larger cab would give the driver better protection against some of Kent's fine summer weather. It's current livery is Bright Red applied during its last major overhaul in 2013.
