A detail of one of the Digital Origami Tigers by LAVA (Laboratory for Visionary Architecture), one of six installations at the Battersea Power Station Light Festival.
Taken last weekend during a 'dress rehearsal' for next Sundays London Flickr Group photowalk round Battersea and Nine Elms. The plan is to finish up at Battersea to photograph the Light Festival before it comes to an end on the 27th February.
If you're free on Sunday 20th February and this sounds like it might be something that you're interested in taking part in then you can find more details here : www.flickr.com/groups/londonflickrgroup/discuss/721577219...

From the batterseapowerstation.co.uk/whats-on/detail/light-festiva... website, "LAVA’s Digital Origami Tigers started their journey around the world in 2010 to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Sydney, Australia (also occuring 1 February in 2022) and is on display at London’s iconic Battersea Power Station when the next Year of the Tiger begins on 1st February 2022. The digital tigers combine ancient methods of lantern making with cutting-edge design and technology, bringing together east and west. The enormous tigers are made of recycled materials including aluminium and barrisol, whilst pulsating low energy LED lighting brings the sculptures to life. The artwork was adopted by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) to generate attention for their international campaign to save tigers."
