UK - London - Docklands abstract 03_sq mono crop_DSC1988

I'd travelled to London Docklands with the aim of shooting some architectural abstracts such as this but ironically I'd not had my long lense on my camera for more than a couple of minutes when I was approached by security and told I needed a permit to take photos. Helpfully he told me I could go to the office and immediately apply for one only to then tell me it would take at least 24hrs till they issued it.

As much as I like the colour version of this the colours are a bit wishy washy so I thought I'd try this B&W conversion. By playing with the 'channels' I've boosted the contrast to give this a bit more impact.

From Wikipedia : "London Docklands is the name for an area in east and southeast London, England. It forms part of the boroughs of Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Lewisham, Newham and Greenwich. The docks were formerly part of the Port of London, at one time the world's largest port. They have now been redeveloped principally for commercial and residential use. The name London Docklands was used for the first time in a government report on redevelopment plans in 1971 but has since become virtually universally adopted. It also created conflict between the new and old communities of the London Docklands."
