UK - London - Tower of London - Blood Swept Lands And Seas Of Red 05 - Mary Nightingale and Paul Cummins_DSC4008

Having returned to the Tower of London today to see the 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' installation again before 11000 volunteers start dismantling it tomorrow, I happened to catch Mary Nightingale from the ITV News interviewing the Poppy creator and man of the moment, Paul Cummins.

From Wikipedia "He conceived the monumental installation at the Tower of London in collaboration with Tom Piper. Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red commemorated British losses in the First World War with 888,246 ceramic poppies. This art installation was realised by set designer Tom Piper whilst Cummins and a number of assistants in Derbyshire made the flowers. Cummins was himself seriously injured while creating this work, crushing his hand in an industrial roller. This left him requiring extensive surgery and resulted in the loss of a finger and use of his dominant hand."
