TV Movie Shot in Overland Park, 6
In December of my 21st or 22nd year, I was riding the Greyhound bus home from college, for Christmas, and read a story by R. Wright Campbell, called simply "Da," a boy's name for his grandpa.
It was about a boy who learns a love for carrier pigeons, and life lessons too, from his grandfather.
In 1989, Michael Landon made it into a film called "Where Pigeons Go to Die," his last NBC TV film, as he died of pancreatic cancer 07-01-1991.
It was filmed on a still-unused plot of ground, right by the McD's I recently posted, (which doesn't face the street,) and across from the twin-towered, giant K-Mart, the Furr's (now China Star) and the recently posted Red Lob, all of which appear briefly, in the film.
Here are some shots I took during filming.
Bing.com view shows McD's in bottom left corner, the film site, still undeveloped, the pond, and the massive K-mart across the street.

The bird's eye view shows the twin buildings, and the pond. Pan east to see K-mart.
