Explaining Without Words
Another day ends in the desert.
Sitting in the tea room, a colleague, definitely a colleague rather than a work mate, asked the other day why I went to the States so much. His tone was, well, let's just say it was less than conciliatory.
'Don't you think you've been enough?'
'Don't you think you should let someone else have a month long break?'
I briefly pondered this outbreak of conversation with someone whom I rarely see eye to eye. Then I let rip.
'Firstly', I replied, 'piss off and mind your own business.'
'And for seconds, if I've got to explain, you're never going to understand.'
I think he called me a stuck-up prat as I left and returned to what I was doing.
Yup, probably.
