The white heaven of Whitehaven

The pure white beaches of Whitehaven beach is one of the main features in the Whitsunday islands.

 

The beach is everchanging in the tides and the color of the sand is somewhat depending on how moist the sand is.

 

The sand consists of pure silicon which which among other things seems to be good fo space uses. NASA elegedly comes down to pick some from time to time... Or maybe it's just an excuse to go for a swim.

 

This is a part of a much bigger panorama but flickr isn't really that well adapted for those.

 

You should really watch this Large On Black since that brings out a lot more detail. My pictures aren't balanced for a white background and a lot of the finer details are lost in this small format.
