Thousands of protesters staged a sit-down demonstration along Ketagalan Boulevard in front of the Presidential Office demanding the government immediately terminate the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant project. Protesters started gathering for the rally on Ketegalan Boulevard at about 4 p.m. and a sudden downpour half an hour later did not deter them from staying on.
The ministry said that if Nuke 4 fails to begin commercial operations by the summer of 2016, Taiwan may face power shortages. However, because of safety concerns, it said, there is no timetable for loading the fuel rods.
The authorities have been on high alert monitoring demonstrations since the Sunflower Movement, which saw students occupy the Legislature for about three weeks and storm the government headquarters.

「全國廢核行動平台」發起反核四活動今(26)日下午在凱道展開，主持人宣稱將持續佔領凱道靜坐直到 政府立即廢除核四為止。
國民黨立院黨團決議「核四完工，通過安檢後，不放置燃料棒，核四未來是否運轉必須經公投決定」，宣告核四若是要運轉，也必須經「完工、安檢、公投」三要件。但安檢何時完成，時間可短可久，此決議也為核四未來留下伏筆。
73歲高齡的民進黨前主席林義雄為「廢核家園」-反核四禁食，今(4.26)日進入第五天。
台電公司今天表示，「廢核四」形同宣告破產，核四總預算為新台幣2838億元，目前已執行2700多億元，尚未列入公司財務報表，如加計至民國102年底累積虧損2084億元，將超過其資本額3300億元，台電馬上要面對公司法第211條「公司資產顯有不足扺償其負債時，董事會應即聲請宣告破產」的危機。
「全國廢核行動平台」發起反核四活動今(26)日下午在凱道展開，下午下起傾盆大雨。數千人於凱道上靜坐，表達反核訴求，除了主舞台陸續由學界、NGO團體代表、歌手上台發言、演唱歌曲，在景福門四週的帳篷也各自進行議題討論、紀錄片播放等活動，讓民眾可以針對核能議題發聲討論，晚上的「全民守護廢核決心」靜坐活動也將持續徹夜靜坐。
