A political statement denouncing the geothermal powerplant down the road. It's funny, but everywhere else I've lived, the environmentalists are calling for alternatives like geothermal power. In Puna, where they actually have experience, now, with geothermal power, the environmentalists are calling for its removal. The lesson I take from all this is that, as a consuming species, there's really no way for us to really live "cleanly" . . . we just have to consume less and minimize our impact. Maybe the wind people will disagree. Or maybe I'll take a picture one day, down the street from a wind farm, of a bumper sticker saying: "Stop Tilting at Windmills".
