Placid Moment

With only the unstoppable ticking off of the seconds, at this moment it appeared that time had stood still. The distant fog which shrouded areas around Lake James seemed frozen in the moment, not moving or changing in appearance. The air was still, unlike just moments before when the near leaves which clung to their branches rattled with each gust that moved across the summit. The birds that had awakened a short time before during the twilight and began their morning search of survival, now were silent. But the view, that view across this beautiful landscape, the soft pastel colors of dawn had a calming, soothing effect on one's soul...
