Douz is an oasis town in the south of Tunisia, with approx. 31,000 inhabitants. The town lies 30 km to the south of the city of Kebili in the Nefzaoua-oasis area to the south of the salt lake "Chott el Djerid".
On account of her situation on the edge of the "Grand erg Oriental" Douz is known as a „gate to the Sahara“.
