Café Batavia, Jakarta

 

Given that the two storey building is the second oldest on Fatahillah Square and has remarkable history, it is rather surprising how empty Café Batavia was. The food was okay, if not remarkable and the prices in general made it clear that this most likely rather is a tourist hangout than a local favourite. Still I´d say that it is worth a visit, it is as close as you´ll get to the old times of colonial rule.
