The National Museum Of Turkmenistan

The impressive building that hosts the National Museum Of Turkmenistan was built back in 1998 and consists of three floors. The first floor features a huge exhibition showing the new president and his achievments - this includes pictures of the guy riding a water scooter and cooking food out in the desert with tribes people. My favourite part was the lineup of leaders of the Turkmen people from ancient times up until Turkmenbashi.

One of these guys was pictured all covered in gold.

Take a wild guess who.

It´s just as weird and lovable as you´d think. The other floors feature a lot of ancient artifacts and are dedicated to archaeology and ethnography. Although we first were told that we could only see one floor for our admission price, the museum attendant then changed his mind and so we could wander around for quite a bit, never without the watching eyes of the female museum guards watching us. And yes, I do mean "us" since we were the sole visitors.

Snapping pictures required an additional fee to be paid and since I really do hate people who take pictures inside museums (and pictures like those never ever turn out any good) I saved a couple of bucks and relaxed the ´ol magic box for a good hour at least.

As you can tell by watching the movie above, the patio outside features one of the most bisarre flagpoles ever. The only thing I´ve seen that beats it is its cousin in North Korea.
