Lenin, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
We got back to Ashgabat in the evening and while looking for a suitable place to eat I managed to force the whole group (that is four people) to join me in the search of this Lenin statue that I´d read about somewhere. We had a map and everything but it was still pretty hard to find it. For some reason a lot of roads where closed and guards waved us off so what initially looked like a three minute walk turned out to be something completely different.
Finally we arrived at the park where a rather small Lenin points out the direction of Communism while standing on top of a rather Arabicesque monument. How long will it remain on this square I found myself thinking before a middle aged cleaning lady hushed me away, telling me that I couldn't take pictures.
