Kow Ata underground sulfur lake, Turkmenistan

 

We stopped by the Kow Ata underground sulfur lake for a swim. Climbing down the very steep stairs into the darkness with a string of lights guiding my way down through the cave was one of the most powerful experiences during my trip to Turkmenistan.
