"The Monument For 10 years of Independence"

 

For the second time that day I came to realize that I was pretty much alone. This in a city that supposedly houses at least one million people. Of course memories of North Korea came to mind and so I asked my guide where everyone was.

 

"Oh, they´re working", he told me without blinking.

 

Which of course might have been true, the time after all being five in the afternoon on a Monday. Then again, which other city centre anywhere else in the world can you think of that remains dead in the middle of the day?
