One thing that I really regretted after my last trip to Japan was that I never got to ride the Shinkansen - the name of the Japanese bullet trains that are the backbone of the nation. This time around I made sure to buy a pass that allowed me to make as many trips as I wanted during a week. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the Shinkansen.
Yes, it´s been around for 50 years.
Japan rocks!
One really cool thing about the Shinkansen is how efficient it is. The train stops for about a minute, people exit and enter super efficiently and then you´re off. This also means that you have to be on your given spot at a given time. If you´re not on the train it will depart, no exceptions are made.
Like clockwork you could say.
In other words, just like Japan in general.
