Go North East: 8335 / NK11HJF
Go North East's Riverside-based "The Orbit" branded Optare Versa V1110/Optare 8335 (NK11 HJF) and Riverside-based Volvo B7TL/East Lancs Vyking 3974 (PJ02 PZA), which carries Go North East's corporate livery with 'Northern' fleet names, are pictured here at at Heworth Interchange, Gateshead, whilst working "The Orbit" services 52 and 51 to Gateshead, respectively. 25/06/14
"The Orbit" services 51 and 52 were circular services which 'orbited' around the suburbs of Gateshead. Both services commenced from Gateshead Interchange, serving Wrekenton, Springwell Estate, Leam Lane Estate, Heworth and Felling Square.
Each operating every 15 minutes, the services were allocated Optare Versas, in a purple base livery. When a branded vehicle was unavailable, it was more common for a corporate liveried single-deck to substitute it, as opposed to a double-deck, in the above instance.
Both services were withdrawn in July 2015 and replaced by "Quaylink" services Q1 and Q2. The once-purple Optare Versas now carry a yellow base livery, but retain purple vinyls as part of the route branding.
