A big hairy ape waits at the edge of the jungle to welcome any intruders into his densely forested realm. He stands with an alert stance and an angry snarl. Next to him, a moss covered tree marks the edge of the forest. While behind him, the dense, vine covered trees recede into the jungle mists.
I originally made this image for a jungle themed digital art contest. The rules of the contest, however, prevented me from publishing it on the web though until it was over. After that, I had forgotten about it until the shooting of the gorilla Harambe at the Cincinatti Zoo made headlines. It brought this to mind. So, I decided to publish it.
To create this image, I used digital art techniques including 3D rendering, digital painting, and digital sculpting.
