Time is an inevitable and unfortunately the aging process comes hand in hand. I have nearly accepted the fact that I am slowly getting a bit older (with the help of my sister's constant reminder) and hopefully I'm becoming a smidgeon wiser.
Despite my age, I am still too young to remember any of the wars that ravaged the 20th century. Apart from the continuous reminders of the ongoing Afghanistan and Iraqi wars bombarded by the ever-present media, little is mentioned about the individuals involved in previous conflicts. At times, it appears that the service men & women of prior generations are all but forgotten.
We live in times blessed with economic stability, relative social harmony and typified by instantaneous gratification. Generation Y's motto is echoed by Fat Boy Slim's "Right Here Right Now". But most of our families have somehow been involved in one war or another along its lineage. Therefore we should all take some time out to remember those in our families and those of others who have sacrificed so much to provide us with the freedom to chose the way we live.
