Classical period, ca. 3rd quarter 5th c. BCE

From a tomb at S. Maria Capua Vetere (ancient Capua - see on Pleiades)

 

The warrior wears a Corinthian-type helmet back on his head and holds a spear and a shield with a lioness (or panther) device, above which is a KALOS inscription. Behind him is another warrior dressed in a cloak (chlamys), wearing a pilos, and holding a spear. They are faced by a bearded man with a staff and a woman with a phiale.
